by

This week, libraries, publishers, and book lovers across Canada are celebrating Freedom to Read Week. Freedom to Read Week is an annual event that encourages Canadians to think about and reaffirm their commitment to intellectual freedom, which is guaranteed them under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.Freedom to Read Week is organized by the Freedom of Expression Committee of the Book and Periodical Council.
The University of Alberta’s Express News has a great article which explains some of the current censorship issues facing Canadian libraries.

Also, check out the banned and challenged books, on display on our library’s second floor until early March.
