Summer Reading

June 29, 2017

I don’t know about the rest of you, but one of my favourite things about summer is the time to actually dig into that pile of books that’s been growing beside my bed all year.

No pile yet?  Check out some of these lists offering suggestions for the books you need to read this summer:

Visit our Vacation? Staycation? Bring a Book! display on Floor 2 of the library

Don’t forget to look for these titles in our leisure reading collection.  Also, the display on Floor 2 all summer long will highlight our leisure reading titles, so when you’re up there checking on the progress of our new makerspace, see if something catches your eye.

Happy reading, and have a good summer!

RDC Library celebrates National Aboriginal History Month

June 12, 2017

June is National Aboriginal History Month in Canada, and we recognize National Aboriginal Day on June 21. RDC Library is celebrating with a book display all month long on Floor 2.

National Aboriginal Day

In addition, check out some of the relevant materials on curio.ca. The Contemporary Indigenous Voices collection focuses on cultural awareness, traditional knowledge, and the contemporary challenges facing Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples across Canada. The videos in the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women collection present a snapshot of the situation and recount the stories of the families and communities affected by this national tragedy.

Curio.ca is CBC and Radio-Canada’s subscriber-based streaming service developed for the Canadian educational community; RDC Library has purchased a subscription for our students, faculty, and staff. Access is seamless on-campus; if you are accessing these resources off-campus, you will be prompted to sign in with your NEOS username and password.
